Seattle-based performer The Drunken Tenor raises his glass to one of America’s most fearless musical satirists in An Evening Wasted with The Drunken Tenor, a sharp, boozy tribute to the songs of Tom Lehrer.

 

Lehrer, who shocked and delighted audiences in the 1960s with gleefully subversive ditties about nuclear war, religion, politics, and everyday absurdities, set the template for musical comedy as we know it. His influence stretches across generations, inspiring Dr. Demento, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and countless comedians who balance dark humor with biting truth.

 

In this production, The Drunken Tenor pairs Lehrer’s classics with his own brand of operatic showmanship, stand-up comedy, and audience banter.
